The minutes from April 28, 2006 were approved.

Joe announced that the fall MATYCONN meeting will be held on October 20 at Norwalk Community College . The morning presentation will be a workshop sponsored by AMATYC on Mathematics Across the Community College Curriculum (MAC3). Participants are asked to bring a non-math faculty member to this session. The afternoon session will be presentations of different mathematical software.

The Math Issues recommendation for a name change for MAT* 143/144 will be on the agenda for the September 28 Council of Deans meeting. Math Issues representatives are asked to request support from their deans.

There are five nursing programs in the state with differing mathematics requirements. Mathematics for the Natural Sciences has MAT* 137 as a prerequisite, which makes it a good course for transfer. However, transfer may not be important for all nursing students.

The committee discussed the upcoming system-wide Professional Development day scheduled for September 22. An agenda was developed, speakers were identified, and appropriate handouts were determined.

Accuplacer cut-off scores and prerequisites for trigonometry courses will be discussed at the next meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 12:45 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Pat Hirschy
